If you use the Floris mod the Manhunters upgrade to elephant mounted later. Look for bandits with Manhunter captives(forest bandits were my favourites for this but also tundra bandits) Manhunters are some of the best troops in the game, imo, and they are equipped with maces. If you use troops armed with blunt weapons(equip your companions with these also my favourite is the Sarranid Horsemans mace) they will capture rather than kill the bandits and you can sell them as slaves in the taverns you can also recruit the bandit's captives at no recruitment cost. Train your companions with the riding skill and after you get a healer companion buy lame horses(much cheaper) and the healer will heal the horses if the horses are in your inventory and not ridden. Now i'm trying to collect some money to establish bussiness in Sargoth or Warcheng but i strugle to collect money as there are few 'slow' bandits i can catch :/ДЄ very good army early on is one comprised of entirely cavalry the army is very fast this works especialy well with the Floris mod.ДЄlso, be sure to have extra mounts in your inventory to carry supplies this speeds up the army a lot.
